If you don't have standard 9 pin serial port and your receiver require serial port and your laptop or computer pc doesn't have one you need to buy one of usb to serial port (rs232) converter. After you install you can use that usb serial port as standard rs232 null serial port so you can upgrade your receiver with your pc or laptop.
